1. ALBUM RELEASE STIMULUS - FAQ

1.1 WHAT IS THE ALBUM RELEASE STIMULUS?

This fund is to provide support for albums which are scheduled for release from October 2020 onwards.

A grant to the value of €5,000 will be made to each successful application.

Activity should be fully scheduled, PR Invoice paid and grant drawn down by December 23rd, 2020.

1.2 WHO IS THE APPLICANT?

A self-releasing artist normally resident in Ireland

OR

An Independent Irish record label representative

OR

International independent record label who represents an Irish artist normally resident in Ireland

1.3 WHO CAN APPLY?

Applications can be made by a self-releasing artist, an independent label based in Ireland or an International independent record label who represents an Irish artist normally resident in Ireland.

1.4 WHO CANNOT APPLY?

Applicants whose albums are not fully recorded and release-ready by the launch date of this Stimulus Fund will be considered ineligible.

Applicants with albums which were recorded after the launch of this fund will be considered ineligible.  

Applications for EP and Single Releases will be considered ineligible.

Artists on the roster of a major record label will be considered ineligible.

1.5 WHAT MAY YOU APPLY FOR?

You may apply for funding to cover costs related to services of an Irish based PR Company or Person in return for the promotion of the ready to release album listed, to the value of €2,500.

This invoice will be paid directly to the PR Company or Person by FMC upon receipt of an invoice reflecting services rendered / to be rendered, as covered in this application.

In addition, the successful applicant will receive a credit with Yangaroo, to the value of €500 to provide direct distribution of the album to the media.

Finally, €2,000 will be available to cover costs already incurred by the artist OR label in the creation of this ready-to-release album.

Proof of costs in the form of receipts must be supplied by successful applicants.  

1.6 WHAT MAY YOU NOT APPLY FOR?

Funding will not be provided for albums which are recorded after the launch of this fund.

You may not apply for PR services from companies or persons based outside of Ireland.

Applications for EP and Single Releases will be considered ineligible.

1.7 WHAT SUPPORTING MATERIAL MUST YOU PROVIDE?

  1. A completed application form to include a budget breakdown (download template here) to reflect costs relating to Album Creation, this will account for €1,000 rebate:
  • fees for artists
  • fees for producers and engineers
  • studio musician fees
  • studio hire costs
  • graphic design
  • photography

1.11 WHO BENEFITS FROM THIS STIMULUS PACKAGE?

Artists, session musicians, independent record labels, managers, PR agencies and PR individuals, digital distribution companies.

1.12 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS GRANT?

This grant will be provided to applicants to hire the services necessary to ensure the ongoing successful release of albums.

Support will be made available to professional independent labels and self-releasing artists of all genres in Ireland to cover costs for PR, digital distribution and promotion within the Irish sector.

3. PROCESSING & ASSESSMENT OF APPLICATIONS - FAQ

3.1 OVERVIEW

The music resource agency, First Music Contact will manage the process and applications will be assessed by an expert panel drawn from the music industry in Ireland.

3.2 THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Applications received by the deadline will be checked for eligibility.

Late applications will not be accepted.

Eligible applications will be considered by the expert panel.

The panel will score eligible applications and award grants on the basis of these scores.  

The panel chair will be independent and non-voting.

Panelists will be required to confirm that they have no conflict of interest in ANY applications.

Panelists who declare a conflict of interest will be excluded from that applicant’s adjudication.

3.3 CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT

Applications are assessed in a competitive context and with consideration of all supporting material.

All applications are assessed against criteria of:

a) artistic merit which focuses on the applicant’s previous practice as well as on the viability of the release-ready album

b) how well they meet the objectives of the Album Release Stimulus Fund (see section 1.1)

c) feasibility of the promotional proposal which considers the extent to which the applicant demonstrates capacity to deliver the proposed activity

d) track record which the applicant demonstrates through the CV(s) and other supporting material submitted

3.4 OUTCOME OF APPLICATION

All applicants will receive an auto response that their Application has been received once it is successfully submitted via the online form.

Applicants will be contacted directly by FMC with the outcome of their Application.

4.  NOTIFICATION & FOLLOW UP - FAQ

4.1 APPROVED APPLICANTS

Approved applicants will be contacted by FMC and notified of their approval to proceed.  

Applicants will be asked to provide bank details, PR Company Invoice and acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant.

4.2 DECLINED APPLICANTS

Declined applicants will be notified directly and feedback will be available if requested.

5.  PAYMENTS & REPORTING - FAQ

5.1 WHEN IS THE GRANT AVAILABLE?

Subject to your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the grant you will receive payment of €2,000 to cover incurred album creation costs.

A Yangaroo voucher will be made available for immediate use.

PR invoice will be paid directly by FMC upon receipt of an invoice to reflect services rendered / to be rendered, as covered in this application.

5.2 WHEN DOES THE GRANT HAVE TO DRAWN DOWN BY?

The grant must be drawn down by December 23rd, 2020.
